Alex Beard

Alex began his career as a teacher in a London school before joining Teach For All, a network of 120,000 educators working to transform education in 60 countries, where he leads the Global Institute. He has spent much of the past decade travelling the world in search of the future of learning, and has written about his experiences for publications such as the Guardian, the Financial Times, and Wired. He wrote and presented The Learning Revolution, a BBC Radio 4 series about the future of education, and is the author of the book Natural Born Learners, a guide to transforming learning in the twenty-first century. He is a trustee of the Day One Trust, a contributor to the World Economic Forum’s Generation AI initiative, and a UK champion for the Global Partnership for Education (GPE).

How to Teach the Future 

AI promises to revolutionise human learning, leading to a future in which our children will grow up to be smarter than ever before. Yet today, it often seems to be having the opposite effect: making children lazier, dumber, and more easily fooled. Whatever your perspective, it won’t ultimately be the ‘tech bros’ who determine which of these two outcomes is most likely for our next generation, but teachers. This keynote will bust the myths surrounding AI, help make sense of the true risks and opportunities it brings, and provide educators with practical guidance on using our latest technology to benefit all students.
